Ashleigh Walker

Ashleigh Walker

Ashleigh Walker

Ashleigh began dancing when she was 12 years old in her hometown, Agnes Water in Queensland.  Although Ashleigh started dancing at a later age, her natural ability flourished within a few years of taking JFH class with Fiona Galt. It wasn’t long before Ashleigh’s creativity and passions for the arts flared. By the time Ashleigh was 14, she began assisting Fiona with teaching and choreographing. Her hunger to learn new styles of dance thrived as she realised she wanted to pursue a career in the performing arts industry.

Ashleigh was accepted into full-time at Urban Dance Centre. She was trained by well renowned choreographers such as Juliette Verne, Veronica Beattie, Julie Williamson, Paul Saliba, Amy Campbell, Rosa Aguis, Tiana Joubert, Adrain Van Winklehof, Michael ‘Sisqo’ Francisco, Kym Parish, and Douglas Blaikie. Ashleigh graduated from UDC in 2009.

Since completing full-time, Ashleigh has been teaching at various dance schools throughout Sydney and the Central Coast. She has been working with exceptional choreographers such as Olivia Ansell for the Luna Park Showtime, Veronica Beattie as a J-Fox Dancer, Corporate Entertainment with Tiana Joubert and as a Wrong Prom Entertainer at Carriageworks. Ashleigh has worked with Director Dana-Lee Mierowsky for Laura-Leighs Video Clip ‘What Is Love’. Was a backup dancer for singer Matt Lee Kete’ at the Usher Album Launch, and also for the infamous MC Hammer.  She has done numerous corporate entertainment and promo events at Dolton House and the Hilton.

Ashleigh recently choreographed one the Australian Glee Cast’s that went on tour to LA in 2010 for the Australian Institute of Performing Arts (AIPA).

Ashleigh is currently Co-Director and Choreographer of Twisted Element Dance Company. Twisted Element is all about quirky, unique and high impact dance performances. Offering something fresh, new and awe-inspiring; the Company intends to make a mark on the Sydney dance scene, and set a new platform for innovative and cutting-edge dance.

Since completing her training, Ashleigh has already gained invaluable industry experience as a performer in a variety of shows including many self-initiated and self-created works, and recently has been recognised as a budding choreographer.

While Ash is only small, her dance style and versatility portrays her expressive and vibrant personality.
